Resolution: Daily Sketch
For Christmas my wonderful fiancee bought me a Wacom Inkling. This thing is pretty cool. It consists of a little sensor you clip on any paper you are drawing on along with a pressure sensitive pen. Once you’ve completed your sketch you can upload a vector image of it to Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to make edits. I used to sketch all of the time but do it less and less now, but am going to try to do something at least every day, even if it’s small. Here is my first of many, they’ll be posted to the Sketchbook section.

Spotvin Draws 2
It’s Wednesday which means it’s Spotvin Draws, and today’s topic was t-shirt design. We chose this because of my clothing line and as well Chris (my intern) has his own line of t-shirts called Funeral Clothing, so we thought it “fitting” to expand out line and what better day to do that than Spotvin Draws! Today was a bit of an experiment as I have freedom with my Spotvin line of tees, do I do typography?, illustrations?, if so what type of illustrations? anyway, here are my efforts of today. To explain my typical process, I’ll usually start on paper (however, don’t do it as often as I should) then scan it in and finish up in Adobe Illustrator to create the real clean lines know as “vectors”. There are two variations of the final if you don’t mind making a comment and voting on your favourite. I see these as being printed a fairly large on the t-shirt in one colour. Cheers

Spotvin Draws
A few weeks back I realized I don’t sketch or draw as much as I should be, so my intern Chris and I came up with Spotvin Draws, a mandatory Wednesday afternoon where we sketch first then do all the final colour and refining in our programs of choice, Photoshop and Illustrator are favs. This image is from our first week doing it, to determine the subject matter we just random Google searched and “Dogfighting” came up.

Very Sketchy
Haven’t done any random sketching in awhile until recently. Here is a little example of it. I really do miss drawing and need to make a point to do it more often.
